Floating Mushroom

The carousel in Bommelwereld looks like a mushroom with eyes. In the story ‘The Wise Hat,’ Mr. Bumble encounters a mushroom like this, though much smaller. Background story

Mr. Bumble finds a small fungus that appears to be alive. He takes it home with him. The fungus turns out to be eager to learn, and Mr. Bumble takes it to the library so that it can feast on knowledge. He cannot find the fungus and goes home.

In the morning, it turns out that the fungus has devoured all knowledge. It is now as big as a house and knows everything. This makes it a rather annoying know-it-all. It returns to its people, who live in caves underground, and tells them everything its fellow fungi want and don't want to know.
